Cowboy Carter by Beyonce is celebrating one year anniversary
November 6, 2025
A bold album that challenges the genre’s conventions and shines a light on a culture too often forgotten. More than just a musical project, it is an artistic, cultural, and historical statement. A look back at the album that made music history.
Cowboy Carter is not just a country album — it’s a declaration. Beyoncé set out to revisit country music by blending it with her R&B and pop influences, while speaking to a much broader audience. She addresses country fans, but also those who never thought they would ever listen to this genre.
Why a country album?
After the criticism she received following her Daddy Lessons performance at the 2016 CMA Awards, Beyoncé wanted to prove that she fully belonged in this world. In response, she immersed herself in country culture to offer her own vision of the genre, breaking down barriers and challenging long-standing prejudices.
Cowboy Carter celebrates the legacy of Black artists in country music — a legacy too often erased from the genre’s history.
Did you know?
Country music has deep roots in African American traditions, particularly through blues and folk. Yet over time, these influences were pushed aside. To set the record straight, Beyoncé invited iconic figures such as Shaboozey, Tiera Kennedy, Brittney Spencer, Reyna Roberts, and Rhiannon Giddens. By doing so, she gives them unprecedented visibility and helps pave the way for future generations.
The Beyoncé Bowl
Christmas 2024: Beyoncé stunned the world by announcing Cowboy Carter right after her Verizon commercial during the Halftime Show. A brilliant marketing move, but also a powerful cultural moment that left a lasting impression. Once again, Beyoncé proved her ability to create an event and capture global attention.
The perfect teaser for an album that was about to change everything.
The success of Cowboy Carter
A historic success.
In 2024, Cowboy Carter made Beyoncé the first Black woman to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Country Albums chart.
Triumph at the 2025 Grammy Awards
Beyoncé became the first Black artist to win Best Country Album. A historic victory that marked a major turning point for diversity in country music. She also won Album of the Year, joining Whitney Houston, Natalie Cole, and Lauryn Hill as the fourth Black artist to receive this prestigious honor.
One year later, Cowboy Carter remains a landmark album. Beyoncé didn’t just impose her vision of country music — she rewrote part of the genre’s history by bringing its African American heritage back into the spotlight.

Who is Chxrry?
November 15, 2025
Originally from Scarborough in Toronto, Chxrry brings a different kind of energy to R&B. In a scene dominated by heavyweights like Drake and PARTYNEXTDOOR, she asserts a feminine, atmospheric vision — one that’s free, modern, and full of attitude. In the era of the clean girl aesthetic, Chxrry chooses the opposite: a world where glamour, chaos, and confidence coexist without filters
